Hi, I’m Ben—a professional trumpet player and teacher based in Nashville. Since 2017, I’ve been helping students of all levels unlock their full musical potential, while building a versatile performance career that spans live shows, studio work, and military service.

I hold a degree in Music Performance and Education from Middle Tennessee State University, where I had the privilege of studying under some of the most respected trumpet players in the country. My teachers were more than just exceptional musicians—they were generous, encouraging mentors. I strive to bring that same energy into every lesson I teach.
My Most Influential Teachers Include:
Alex Wilborn – Principal Trumpet, Charlotte Symphony
Dr. Michael Arndt – Professor of Trumpet, Middle Tennessee State University
Vince DiMartino – World-Renowned Soloist & Professor Emeritus, University of Kentucky
Preston Bailey – Nashville Studio Musician
Steve Patrick – Nashville Studio Musician
Their mentorship has been central to my development as both a player and educator.
Military & Professional Career
In 2020, I joined the U.S. Army National Guard as a bandsman with the 129th Army Band. As a military musician, I’ve performed across the U.S. and Europe at official government events, public outreach concerts, and military ceremonies.
Outside the military, I maintain a thriving freelance career in Nashville’s vibrant music scene. I’m currently the full-time trumpet player at a professional playhouse, performing hundreds of musical theater productions each year with them. I also maintain a private studio of 15–20 students, while freelancing for:
- Orchestras & symphonies
- Recording sessions (film, TV, video games)
- Musical theater productions
- Weddings, churches, and corporate events
- Live bands and touring artists

My Performance Highlights
- Studio recordings for anime soundtracks, Netflix series, and EA video games
- Over 30 Broadway-style musicals performed
- Performances with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra
- Featured soloist at the Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference
- Performances at the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria
- Featured artist at Dollywood
- National Trumpet Competition: Performer & Competitor
- Alumni of the World Youth Symphony and Honor Orchestra of America

Outside of music, my personal story plays a big role in who I am today. My father immigrated to the U.S. from Laos and taught me the values of discipline, hard work, and respect for others—principles I carry into both my personal life and my teaching. The sacrifices he made for me to be doing this do not go unnoticed.
I’m also a huge fan of Dragon Ball and run a small online store from my home called Kame House Collectors, where I sell vintage and modern Dragon Ball figures to collectors around the world. (Yes—playing trumpet and collecting Gokus can coexist as careers!)
In February 2025, I married my wonderful wife, Aime, and we now live in Smyrna, TN with our Shih Tzu, Bibi. We love cooking together, traveling, watching movies, and spending quality time with our family!
Music is a huge part of my life—but so are the things that keep me grounded, inspired, and connected to others. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I’d be honored to be a part of your musical journey!

Still Here?! Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me.
Now, I’d love to learn about you – your goals, your story,
and how I can help you grow through music
